food and politics amen!

I used to love this pizza as in. But not having it in years eh ewan ko ba, parang ang alat na nya masyado hehehe… I remember as a child how I enjoyed eating that crust, but it seems that many years have passed and it’s not the same crust I used to love. It’s not that crunchy anymore =(

[Real life ito mala lifetime bwahahah...] When I was in grade school my hoodlum uncle used to pick me up from school every afternoon and if my mom is off from work she picks me up instead of my uncle. I liked it if she picks me up. Cause I get treats from her! Hehehe… *Bata pa lang patay-gutom na?* and yeah before heading home, near my school there is a Greenwich and there she would buy my mieryenda. I cannot forget this Greenwich dramah ever…

One day - isang araw, when we were about to eat… I saw an elderly lady outside the window of Greenwich looking at the people who were eating inside the said resto… She is not begging for food. But the look on her eye, I know shes hungry. At that time I felt so sad - cause I can’t do anything… *Footah anliit ko pa noon, oh well maliit pa din naman ako ngayon? LOL!* I mean how could you just put something in your mouth and eat it - knowing someone outside that window is hungry and is looking at you? Daym!

When I was in Manila during my vacation last May - I try to avoid seating in a window… Pootah baka maawa lang ako, at mailibre ko pa lahat ng taong nagugutom doon lol.

Oh well, I just couldn’t imagine how freakin’ Mrs. Arroyo and her ‘entourage’ afford freakin’ lavish dinners worth $20k in some fancy French restaurant in New York, while many Filipinos in the Felepens are hungry. Footah!

Pinas: Street Food (Part 2)

Can somebody tell me, how come I don’t see much of Mamang Sorbeto in the streets as much as much as before na pahara-hara??? I went all to Luneta, just to have durty ice cream ugh! Dirty ice cream is made with local fruits / ingredients. It’s common flavors are Cheese, Langka, Chocolate *that is Filipino chocolate ha!*, Ube, Mango and Avocado. [I am quite serprice that Mamang sorbetero has cookies and cream flavah nah!] *Ibig bang sabihin nyan, eh talagang ganyan na kaunlad ang Pilipinas?* Hahahaha…

Luneta Park, Manila - June 7, 2009

I was craving for this durty ice cream for the longest time ugh! You guys just don’t have any idea! I was supposed to have my ice cream in a bun, but then am still feeling full from my Tinola lunch.

Carriedo, Quiapo - June 7, 2009

Samalamig is a beverage that is sweet and is serve cold. *Awwww, sarapppp.* As the name suggests, it is used to refresh and nourish everyone’s thirst, especially during Summer season. I saw this beverage sold in every corner in Manila. Other stands have Sago Gulaman, Sago Gulaman in Pink [Bakla? LOL!] Buko and Melon. (But yours trulily did not take her chance! Kahit na I feel so tarstey…) Takot ako eh, the next morning pa naman ang flight ko pabalik! Eh baka hmmm alam nyo na! HAHAH!!!

Intramuros, Manila - June 7, 2009

Nilupak is a mashed (Kamoteng Kahoy or Cassava and sometime Bananas are being used too!) I prefer Kamoteng Kahoy over Banana.

I am fixated with the purple and white Nilupak I dunno lol… Best eaten when it’s still warm and serve with Star margarine *YUMI!*

Pinas: Street Food (Part 1)

(Quek-quek and squidballs. Both are deep fried and serve on a skewers, serve with sweet or hot sauce.)

All I can say about Pinas street food or what others refer to as Hepa Zone lol - is really masarap! *Though I was a little afraid noh, that I might catch Hepatitis or H1N1.* Oki lang, may travel insurance naman, so DO OR DIE NA NO - hahaha. Just kiddin’.

But hey, try to notice it… The vendor was using a serving spoon noh! O diva, wala nang double dipping! So I guess Hepa Zone is not so highrisk of Hepatitis anymore?

I Can truly say that, Filipinos love to eat! Why? Why not, choconut! No, seriously - Everywhere I looked at there’s plethora of food and in every corner there’s a restaurant, ohhh the restaurants or turo-turo (Point-point, cause you have to point or turo what you want to have or eat… Intiendes?) there in the PI are like mushrooms… Tsk! You woudn’t believe it, in one freakin’ eskinita (Alley) there are 5 sari-sari stores (Retail store) and at least 7 turo-turo’s… Hehehe, graveh no… Nakakatuwa…

I love this little fried chickens! They taste like fried chicken lol, only they’re little…

I ate it like I was Andrew Zimmern the host of Bizarre Foods on Discovery channel, but unlike Andrew Zimmern - Hindi ako kasing dambuhala nya! Hahaha… Syet kasi ultimo alikabok ata kinakain noon hahaha…

To be continued…
