Pad See Ew

I love eating different kind of foods, may it be Vietnamese, Burmese, Korean (Earlier today I was craving for Bibimbap! Uhg.) Laotian and my most favorite of them all is Thai, cause of it’s taste I dunno - But I am crazy for those distinct flavors that they use [A hint of lime, chillies, sweetness, bitterness and it's sourness ohhh just harmonious!]

How I miss Thailand! How I wish I am in Thailand/Bangkok area to be exact, I should have went there for my summering days. (Is it Thailand? Or the girls in Patpong area? Bwahahaha…) Even before I have met Manat (My ex-kickboxer gf!) I have been already a sucker for Thai food! Well, that’s the whole point of dating her right? For me to have that — ALL-I-CAN EAT authentic Thai food bwehehe… (Charot!)

I remember the first time I’ve eaten Pad See Ew is in a market (along the alleys!) I just can’t remember if it’s Pahurat or in Yaowarat. I loved it then… I love their delicious and cheap street food and uhg the vendors are often friendly/nice people. (With all that libreng tikmin no!) - This is my blog still, not DAVID ZIMMERMAN’S OK! TEHEHEHEH…

Cooking Pad See Ew is not that different from cooking Pad Thai.

Classic Breakfast - tuyo, jeprox (dried fish) and fried eggs

Tuyo and the likes (Daing, Dilis and Dang-git) was once known as poor man’s food (poor man’s fish - aba para palang sbahu poor mans cocaine lol), For it is very cheap and is available even at your favorite suking tindahan sari-sari store. But not anymore (Obviously I am eating it noh! I am from Forbes ha! Forbes Street!) LOLS *Ana Dionisio, istatue?*

Now you can find it from different high end restaurants in the Philippines, for they use it in their dishes (Salad and Pasta). Who would have thought of it? It’s also been the typical breakfast fares in fast-food chains. Not just that.. It’s now for export too

Tuyo may have that distinctive smel… But once eaten ahhh heaven! [Choosing between muffins, bagel, donut, apple pie, pate atbp...., and tuyo? I'll definitely go for tuyo! *With matching cheer leading sa background bwahaha*]

Tuyo is a dried fish (Tuyo actually meaning dried, not basa! bwahahaha. Eh di sana kung basa sya di basa na tawag sa kanya. *I had basa for breakfast. Ekkkk anlaswa naman! TG.). The process of salting and drying preserves the fish and you can actually safely store this for some time. This is done to a number of kinds of fish so you can have different variants of tuyo.

Tuyo is usually eaten for breakfast with fried rice, tomatoes and coffee.

I am such a sucker for breakfast! [Let alone Tuyo!] A very good combination - my dried tuyo, jeprox and fried eggs. The mixed veggies is just a substitute for the tomatoes.

Tuyo with Capers

Who could imagine that Tuyo would be a delicatessen and a product to be exported out of the Philippines?

I have posted something about this awhile ago at my other blog diwatangbyaning that Tuyo at Daing (dried and salt cured fish) is being used in most of their dishes over there like their salads and pastas. - Hmmm I think I’ll be doing Tuyo pasta one of these days, hays… I am quite getting hungry!

I badly needed a drink!

As y’all know, I diwatang_byaning have 2 or more (the others as in saling-kit) blogs that I managed with my busy unemployed life filled with welfare checks - lol, I have all the time to manage blogs no! Are you a busy person and don’t have the time to update your blog? HIRE ME! Hehehehe…

Anyways just an update: I am busy ever ever exploring things, new things indeed - “Huwatttttttt, who said that I am becoming a straight person now?” Nevah evah evah! [Hello! Ang damdamin ko mas lalake pa sa tatay mo!] (My feelings are more manly than any manly man that you know in your life!) *Checks if my English translation is right…*

Oh well, where was I? OK. The other day Young indeed did a little

exploration which really left me tired and thirsty… Went to Nabos to get a quick bite to eat (chips and a smoothie). I heard (hearsay) that they have very good sandwiches here and soup (maybe I’ll try it some other time.)

I like the theme of Nabos very relaxed and it’s just inviting… (check out it’s walls.)

No more wondering for me! Food items to be labeled…

Like me do you ever wonder where your food came from?

Well now, well have more information - no more wondering where your hamburger came from, or where your lettuce and tomatoes were grown: Starting this week, shoppers will see lots more foods labeled with the country of origin.

It’s been law light years in the making but timely, as China’s milk scandal and recent salmonella-tainted Mexican peppers prompt growing concern over the safety of imported foods.

So next time tomatoes are suspected of food poisoning, consumers may be able to tell investigators that it was bought in a certain region where it was grown.
