food and politics amen!
I used to love this pizza as in. But not having it in years eh ewan ko ba, parang ang alat na nya masyado hehehe… I remember as a child how I enjoyed eating that crust, but it seems that many years have passed and it’s not the same crust I used to love. It’s not that crunchy anymore =(
[Real life ito mala lifetime bwahahah...] When I was in grade school my hoodlum uncle used to pick me up from school every afternoon and if my mom is off from work she picks me up instead of my uncle. I liked it if she picks me up. Cause I get treats from her! Hehehe… *Bata pa lang patay-gutom na?* and yeah before heading home, near my school there is a Greenwich and there she would buy my mieryenda. I cannot forget this Greenwich dramah ever…
One day - isang araw, when we were about to eat… I saw an elderly lady outside the window of Greenwich looking at the people who were eating inside the said resto… She is not begging for food. But the look on her eye, I know shes hungry. At that time I felt so sad - cause I can’t do anything… *Footah anliit ko pa noon, oh well maliit pa din naman ako ngayon? LOL!* I mean how could you just put something in your mouth and eat it - knowing someone outside that window is hungry and is looking at you? Daym!
When I was in Manila during my vacation last May - I try to avoid seating in a window… Pootah baka maawa lang ako, at mailibre ko pa lahat ng taong nagugutom doon lol.
Oh well, I just couldn’t imagine how freakin’ Mrs. Arroyo and her ‘entourage’ afford freakin’ lavish dinners worth $20k in some fancy French restaurant in New York, while many Filipinos in the Felepens are hungry. Footah!
Pinas: Street Food (Part 1)
(Quek-quek and squidballs. Both are deep fried and serve on a skewers, serve with sweet or hot sauce.)
All I can say about Pinas street food or what others refer to as Hepa Zone lol - is really masarap! *Though I was a little afraid noh, that I might catch Hepatitis or H1N1.* Oki lang, may travel insurance naman, so DO OR DIE NA NO - hahaha. Just kiddin’.
But hey, try to notice it… The vendor was using a serving spoon noh! O diva, wala nang double dipping! So I guess Hepa Zone is not so highrisk of Hepatitis anymore?
I Can truly say that, Filipinos love to eat! Why? Why not, choconut! No, seriously - Everywhere I looked at there’s plethora of food and in every corner there’s a restaurant, ohhh the restaurants or turo-turo (Point-point, cause you have to point or turo what you want to have or eat… Intiendes?) there in the PI are like mushrooms… Tsk! You woudn’t believe it, in one freakin’ eskinita (Alley) there are 5 sari-sari stores (Retail store) and at least 7 turo-turo’s… Hehehe, graveh no… Nakakatuwa…
I love this little fried chickens! They taste like fried chicken lol, only they’re little…
I ate it like I was Andrew Zimmern the host of Bizarre Foods on Discovery channel, but unlike Andrew Zimmern - Hindi ako kasing dambuhala nya! Hahaha… Syet kasi ultimo alikabok ata kinakain noon hahaha…
To be continued…
911 Special: Chicharong bituka
Is great with beer! It is a Filipino delicacy made from pork or chicken intestines.
Philadelphia eats…
It is really trying hard to get peoples attention. (Even if it’s recession?) Yes Philadelphia’s restaurant week has been extended for another week of deals– $35 scores you three courses and that extention is through Feb.6. Not everybody though is participating.
$35 for three courses is not bad at all. (El Vez would be first on my list.) Specially of you have a finacier like– MONAYYYY! Hoy come out let’s eat at El Vez!!! Ikaw ang taya, ako na nagyaya eh!
Middle Easrtern Food: Norma’s
Little you guys did know, Iyoung is a huge fan of Middle Eastern food! Why? Tinatanong pa ba yon? It delicious it’s healthy wahahaha kelan pa ako naging health freak? Well it is much healthier compared than Pinoy food na sobrang greasy at kung anik-anik taktak-tak right?
Over time in the Middle East there have been political conflicts between the Jews and the Palestinians over land [Arab-Israeli conflict], but did you guys also know that they’re also fighting for food? Since Israel claimed that Falafel is their national snack. OMG FCOL these conflicts have been around ages noh ano ba and we all know that. Falafel can be an Israeli food or Arab food - I don’t know and I don’t care, Falafel has been there for ages and all I care about is how delicious it is made by one of my neighboring Middle Eastern restaurant run by Palestinian chefs originally from Israel.
Akkkkk enough of the politics! Yesterday afternoon we - I and America’s Top Monay had a lunch date at Norma’s Mediterranean restaurant
(You see whenever I am craving for good Mediterranean food, I go to Norma’s. Their not too pricey. They’re food is good and it really gives me multi-orgasm sa sarap oh my gravey!!! Plus the server is si PAPA as in papable? Ekkk no it’s PAPAhadah lols.) Plus at some nights they have belly dancers dancing in the tune of Arabian nights wowoweeee. Lebanese Blond anyone?
Bibingka and Puto Bumbong
Last New Year’s eve we was on the “A-list invite” held at Robert’s mansion [It was potluck] and I decided to bring puto bumbong and bibingka I figured out that no one’s bringing any dessert aside from America’s Top Monay good ol’ cake ng ina nya.
Pramis nag-ala Martha Stewart/Julia Childs ako heheheh… We was a little late dahil nag-kayod pa ako ng niyog at kung ano ano pa *echos*
Here’s the uncooked bibingka and puto bumbongbong topped with cheese [Velveeta] and salted egg this is before I baked em’
Here’s the mix for the puto bumbong…
Roll each of em’ them like this… *Dapat pare-parehog sukat! Laki at taba.* para walang tampuhan lols. Then you can put them in a saucepan with water o diba parang palitaw!
Here’s the cooked version *O diba, parang talagang Julia Child… Kakapasok pa lang sa oven - paglabas luto na? Hahahaha ibang klaseng powers no?*
I eat with my emotions?
Isn’t it obvious yet? Hehehe… But at least after eating this massive food I was running like a dog and working out so hard at the gym no. (At least I am doing something!!!) Hindi nakahilata lang. [Hindi naman ako ganun ka batugan lols.]
I have read somewhere that If you eat in response to your feelings, especially when you are not hungry, you are an emotional eater. Ekkkkkkkkkkkkk… So I think I am an emotional eater then. Cause even if I am not hungry I eat, I dunno but I love munching anything even - for a fact that I just ate a meal. (My emotions are more hungry than my body?)
I definitely know how to have fun!
FUN is…

Variety Store (Sari-Sari)
OMFG! When was the last time I bought something in a sari-sari store or suking tindahan? Loooong time! There are plentiful of stuffs that you can buy in a sari-sari store like basic commodities at very low prices. (candies, chips, cooking oil, vinegar, tawas [alum power - for that ultimate kili-kili power!], vetsin [MSG], gas and a whole lot more - it’s where you can buy stuffs in small quantity or what they call “tingi”.
I love buying “tingi” - for I know., For sure that nothings going to be wasted. Uhg… Like last time, I went to the store to get a ginger, I need about just a quarter of a spoon and in the store (they gave me this whole bunch of ginger.) - What am I going to do with that excess no? Magtinola? O mag-salabat? Syet! Nakakahinayang ba…
Anyways, I am not about to open my own sari-sari store… Hehehe… Just almost! When I got these care packages.
