food and politics amen!
I used to love this pizza as in. But not having it in years eh ewan ko ba, parang ang alat na nya masyado hehehe… I remember as a child how I enjoyed eating that crust, but it seems that many years have passed and it’s not the same crust I used to love. It’s not that crunchy anymore =(
[Real life ito mala lifetime bwahahah...] When I was in grade school my hoodlum uncle used to pick me up from school every afternoon and if my mom is off from work she picks me up instead of my uncle. I liked it if she picks me up. Cause I get treats from her! Hehehe… *Bata pa lang patay-gutom na?* and yeah before heading home, near my school there is a Greenwich and there she would buy my mieryenda. I cannot forget this Greenwich dramah ever…
One day - isang araw, when we were about to eat… I saw an elderly lady outside the window of Greenwich looking at the people who were eating inside the said resto… She is not begging for food. But the look on her eye, I know shes hungry. At that time I felt so sad - cause I can’t do anything… LOL!* I mean how could you just put something in your mouth and eat it - knowing someone outside that window is hungry and is looking at you? Daym!
When I was in Manila during my vacation last May - I try to avoid seating in a window…
Oh well, I just couldn’t imagine how freakin’ Mrs. Arroyo and her ‘entourage’ afford freakin’ lavish dinners worth $20k in some fancy French restaurant in New York, while many Filipinos in the Felepens are hungry. Footah!
Chicken Feet!
I am craving for something gelatinous! *Is it jello?* Ngek!
Aside from A day old chick, Chicken ass, Isaw, Balunbalunan, Dugo, Helmet [chicken head it is.] et al my most favorite part of the chicken is the feet! *YUM* ~~~Drools~~~
I feel like going to Chinatown this weekend… And have all the chicken feet I could eat - ahhh blissful.
New York: Food Trip
While in New York two Sunday’s ago, took advantage and went to eat mass and greasy produced foodsss in Jollibee, hehehe - I ordered yumburger for dine in and took spaghetti and palabok with chicken joy to go. *Kakainin sa byahe?* I wasn’t too happy not so langhap sarap noh. Pucha the veggies in my so called yumberger is so soggy pootah parang nalabsak sa byahe from Pinas hahaha… Kairita! Tapos-tapos-tapos wala pang maupuan as in ang liit ng espasyo ha!
With all that hotdog pieces…* The serving was big compared sa serving sa Pinas! Oha na adapt na ang American standard!
I noticed something, one of the crew na si Manong eh kinukuha ang tray sa customers kapag itatapon na ang basura sa trash - and he throws it himself, parang sa Pinas talaga hehehe nasa restaurant talaga - (papa, meme, uu bwahaha) uupo ka kakain ka at sabay larga, wa na pakels sa mga pinagbalahuraan mo.
After yumburger comes dessert! Ekkkkkkk if you do desserts in Jollibee you have an eating disorder!!! Ugh - Who eats dessert in Jollibee?
Seafood Island
Last May 21 me and my amo went to Libis in Seafood Island to meet up our fellow bloggers whom we just meet on the internet - ohhh the power of social climbing talaga! Hahaha…
[If they will not ask for a 'dagdag' they will thieve on you, kaya mag INGAT PO SA MGA TAXI DRIVERS SA MANILA!!!]
Ohh reminds me… The taxi that took me from Sofitel that brought me to Makati eh walanghiya din! Imagine, kung mapagsasamantalahan ka - pagsasamantalahan ka talaga!!! GrrrrRRrr… Luckily I got the plate of the cab, I immediately called my friend (na maasahan, achus!) and let her track the cab operators number and address. After 10 minutes she called me back - aba, na-bibilib ako sa system ng Departamentong tinawagan ng aking kebigan. Ang bilis as in speedy gonzales kung speedy gonzales! My dad went to the said address of the operator, unfortunately it was the first owner. They then sold it to a new operator and the new owner hasn’t changed any information yet on chorva chorva chorvas database - MGA INUTEL! If I know pinagnanasaan nyo lang yong mga pinaghubadan ko ewwwwwww! Magsawa kayo! Mga kawatan! I was waiting for the whole day, the cab didn’t comeback and return my stuff - buti na lang mga damit lang yon… Eh kung mga importante yon? Eh di puta I will be stuck in Manila waaaaaaaaaaa… Okay enough of this chorva - nagiging off topic na ang putang entry!
So where are we? Hehehe… I got lost!
Ahhhh okay - If you’re up for a heavy seafood Filipino meal, in other words feeling patay gutom ka na *hahaha* then this is the place for you.
Parang pinasabog no? As in basta na lang isinabog sa habag kainan mo. LOL
Aling Tonya’s - Seaside Macapagal…
While staying at Sofitel Since I am steps away from Macapagal Blvd., I took the advantage and forced my brother to invite me and some of my friends to a late lunch at Seaside Macapagal. *As in super late lunch! Alas 4? Hahaha* Of course everybody was hung uber! Since the night before magkakasama rin kami same people, ang wala lang si Ama at yong jowa ko lol… *Pootah I didn’t even imagine that I will be seeing and let alone spend more time with Chuva and Sunyi in the PI noh…*
This is such an experience for me! I got the chance to pick the freshest seafood in the Seaside market and brought over to Aling Tonya’s and let them cooked it the way I wanted, for a minimal fee lol. *Ang taray! Wala nyan dito sa Jameirika!*
Fancy seafood? Then Seaside is for you! Definitely the place to go for fresh seafood.
I wasss so full! I didn’t even eat that much, nawalan ng gana? Dami kasing puta-putahe! Nakakalula! Now how in the world I can enjoy my dinner at Spiral? Pootah! *That’s why, I said - I will just take the rain check! Pero sabi ng gusto mag-treat, no rain checks! It’s now or never ‘daw’, taray mo ha! Eh di just give me the Ca$h na lang!* Hahaha…

Ekkkkkkkkkkkkk may kaldero sa hapag kainan? Tsk…Okay na sana, sablay pa! Lols… [We ordered 2 of each ng mga puta-putahe - There’s hilabos na hipon (supsupin ba tawag jan?) Pusit, Seaweed salad, Sinigang na isda sa miso, Shrimp tempura and Sugpo. Everything was almost $100 kung i-co-convert, that includes all the food from the market and the paluto at Aling Tonya’s as well.
After that lunch? (May lakas pa ako?) Tambay na, sa Parilya! Hehehe… Ganyan ang buhay ko sa Manila - syet, I miss it!
Spiral at Sofitel Hotel
While staying at Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila, my room comes with a complimentary breakfast buffet for 2 at their posh eatery ‘SPIRAL’. It is multi-cuisine and has an open cooking stations. They have an indoor and outdoor seating. I just stayed inside, malangaw sa labas! *Nabubulok ka na ba?* Hahaha…
They offer a huge selection of food… From Continental, Japanese and the traditional Filipino breakfast
- Like danggit, tapa, longanissa, corned beef with sinangag.
Actually I was supposed to try their dinner buffet, it’s just that I just had too much food already… “Kaya ang sabi ko sa nag-invite sa akin, PERAHIN mo na lang kaya?” Bwahaha… Eat in only lang daw and no rain checks chorva ng barooka! [Sayang naman kasi, I am not a big eater no, para lang akong ibon kung kumain then we has to pay 1,600 pesoses?]
911 Special: Chicharong bituka
Is great with beer! It is a Filipino delicacy made from pork or chicken intestines.
Taho
Is made of fresh soft tofu, and topped with tapioca and brown sugar syrup (sago at arnibal). It is usually peddled in the morning and mamang magtataho usually shouts the word tahooo.
I bought this Taho at Heung Fa Chun in Philadelphia’s Chinatown in Arch Street.
I made my own tapioca pearls and brown syrup though… [I don't like what they put in it. It's like ginger syrup.]
I bought 3 pints lols. Shhhhsshh walang gyera no. I gave 1 pint to the Cheong household and 1 to Michelle and the rest yong isang pint? Inubos ko! Hehehe.
Heung Fa Chun is owned and operated by a Singaporean (I think) couple. Aside from taho they also sell other kinds of sweets. Like mung bean with taro, ma-chang, rice cakes, soya drink - well in fact they do sell pancit and congee here and it is very cheap, compared to the other stores. By the way, they do call taho, dofu - but since the couple has a few Filipino customers they do know it is also called taho with sago, well just in case you might be in Arch Street no.
Philadelphia eats…
It is really trying hard to get peoples attention. (Even if it’s recession?) Yes Philadelphia’s restaurant week has been extended for another week of deals– $35 scores you three courses and that extention is through Feb.6. Not everybody though is participating.
$35 for three courses is not bad at all. (El Vez would be first on my list.) Specially of you have a finacier like– MONAYYYY! Hoy come out let’s eat at El Vez!!! Ikaw ang taya, ako na nagyaya eh!
A taste of the island - Ya Mon!
Last Saturday I so busy, then I got this call from a friend [Jude] asking if I can go and eat out with them around 6-ish. I said yes! Kung libre ba no? Hehehe… (I really have no plans of going out, even to eat out. Pagoda tragedy at nilalamig ang ate ninyo. Cause you know, these days I was feeling a little - little lang ha, stressed ba. I promised myself that I will have a therapy on that Saturday.) *Sinusompong talaga ako these days ng ka-O-C-han ha!!!* Naglinis ako, wala akong pakialam - Well it’s better than drowning my sorrows with alcohol na walang lasa no? *HIK*
Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you. Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama. Key largo, Montego baby why dont we go.
As soon as you enter the restaurant
-This you will see…, Now I can’t wait to be seated and sip that lustfully Bahamarita! But on the sekantots, it’s soooo pa-sweet, not my kind of drink!
This I preffer! *Inumin ng tunay na lalake - HIK* Nothing beats this freshly squeezed lime, fresh spearmint (Sana hindi pinitas sa kapit-bahay?) fresh sugar cane and fresh RUM lol with a splash and dash of fresh ripe tropical mango.
